Matthew Foster

Matt is a Chaplain for the Mission’s New Life Program in Denver. As you can tell from his beard of epic proportions, he looks as though he is a cross between a cultured Sasquatch, Grizzly Adams, and an extra from the movie Deliverance. This is the customary appearance of a native from Franklin County, Virginia, an upbringing which served as a natural transition in his move to Colorado. Matt began his journey with the Mission as a Facility Assistant at the Fort Collins Rescue Mission. His experience with the staff and guests there brought him to a transformational encounter with God. He would later accept his current role as a Chaplain in the New Life Program, where he finds surprise, wonder and joy in walking with men through their pain and moving forward in life. Matt’s liberation lies in these things: the love of his wife and newborn son, the power of narrative and creativity, and a mountain trail leading him into the unknown. The beard isn’t just for show, you know.
